The Savages (@savagesband) have been talked about for quite a while, but until I saw them perform "Husbands" on Jools Holland I hadn't realised how much I liked them. This album doesn't convey the power or intensity of that live performance, but this allows the nuances and more subtle parts come to the surface. Musically not totally ground breaking but wonderful, and just what's needed in this time of "landfill folk". [9]

@killingjokeband - MMXII: Their 15th studio album, from a band I regrettably have not followed too closely. This is the first album I've listened to of theirs for years, and it's a colossus. Full of trademark dark, heavy and more personal tracks (In Cythera) that make the whole experience "enlightening", time to discover the rest of their back catalogue. My ears do hurt now... in a good way. [10]

@furiesuk : Listening to these definitely cheered me up after another glorious day as a #lcfc fan. Listening tracks on soundcloud.com/furies I heard a great mix of rock, punk and grunge which reminded me of a more up-beat Cecil (Bombar Diddlar era circa 1996). When's the CD out? [8]
